We have a habit of looking over at someone else and lamenting the fact that they have something that we want. How often though, do we think of what that person might be going through, or what might be missing from that persons life?
We all have our own insecurities that we take for granted other people experience as well. We also tend to forget that it is nearly impossible to tell what kind of situation someone might be going through at that particular moment, just by looking at them.
For example, someone might fly by in your dream car, leaving you wishing you could be in their shoes and driving a fantastic car. But they might trade all the luxuries in their life to have the close family connections you have in yours.
That’s why it’s essential to remember that happiness comes from within and you need to focus on your own self, rather than the attributes of others, in order to attain complete happiness. Always remember to be grateful for all of the good things in your life. Sometimes, we can focus so hard on attaining our wants, that we forget about the amazing things and people that already fill our lives. For example, when was the last time you really sat back and went over all the great things in your life? When was the last time you told the people that love and support you, how much they mean to you?
By making it our mission to do this on a frequent basis, we learn to become happier in ourselves. Other peoples lives don’t seem so much better and we give up the need to buy temporary happiness int he form of material things.
