Meet The Bear, Lion and Tiger That Live Like Brothers
Baloo the American black bear, Leo the African lion, and Shere Khan the Bengal tiger; affectionately known as “The BLT”, came to Noah’s Ark in 2001 after they were discovered by police officers in a basement of an Atlanta home during a drug raid.
They were only a few months old when the three cubs were brought to Noah’s Ark; frightened, malnourished and infected with both internal and external parasites, the cubs had suffered a great deal already in their short lives.
Shere Khan, the tiger, was malnourished and highly infected with parasites. Once shy and frightened, he is now the most mischevious of the three, constanty looking to play and jumping on the other two!
Leo the Lion came in with an open and infected wound he received from being confined to a tiny crate. Although healed now, he still carries the scar. Leo can be very stoic and loves nothing more than napping on the porch. However when play time comes around he’s straight in to find a toy and play with his brothers.
Baloo the bear was in the worst condition out of the three when he was brought to Noah’s Ark. He has a severely ingrown harness that dug into his flesh as it was never loosened as he grew in size. The harness was so ingrown that his flesh had begun to grow over it, and surgical intervention was required to remove the harness and clean his deep, infected wounds.
The only time the three were seperated was during Baloo’s surgery. Shere Khan and Leo paced nervously and were very vocal about their seperation.
After his surgery, Baloo was returned to his brothers and the three have been together ever since, with hardly a quarrel between them. Baloo is a very confident and relaxed bear and will do anything for a sweet treat.
The three ‘Brothers’ – Baloo, Leo and Shere Khan, eat, sleep, and play together. You can also find them seeking one another out for grooming and affection, rubbing each others head and licking each other. It’s safe to say that the terrifying ordeal that the three experienced in their early lives, formed an inseperable bond that transcends their obvious differences
