There’s something that draws us to forests – they both fascinate us and scare us. They offer protection, shelter and beauty. But they can also hide danger and darkness can fall in an instant.
Most of our favourite fairy tales take place, at least in part, in haunting or spectacular forests. There’s something magical about them that lends themselves to stories. They can hide all manner of things, palaces, cabins, even the entryway into other worlds.
They have the ability to change their mood in an instant and when you’re standing beneath trees that have stood for hundreds of years, you can’t help feel small.
It is hard to discount the beauty of the forest and it’s fascinating to see how they differ around the world. Some contain violent splashes of blues, oranges and yellows across the background of lush greens and earthy browns. Whatever they contain, you can be sure that there are many stories to tell about them and they promise a huge amount of exploration and adventure.
