If we want to practice being healthy, then we need to start thinking of more than just our physical self. To be truly healthy, our Mind, Body & Soul need to be in harmony, so it’s important not to neglect any of them. The following are some tips that will allow you to keep your entire being in the best shape possible!


Declutter Your House

You should schedule one day a month, where you go through your home and get rid of anything that doesn’t have a purpose. Be strict! A cluttered house can lead to a cluttered mind and you’ll notice the benefits of living in an environment where everything has it’s place. This can be hard with kids with lots of toys, but having big storage spaces you can chuck everything into, and teach them to help, is a real life saver!

Fully Focus On One Everyday Routine

This could be something like washing the dishes or getting dressed in the morning, things that we usually do and allow our minds to wonder. Become engrossed in what you’re doing. Be aware of every action you’re making, the noises, how something feels, smells etc. This is a great little trick for practicing mindfulness and helps us to be more focussed throughout the day.


Try to set aside at least 10 minutes (preferably 20) every day to meditate. You can practice guided, mantra, visual… whatever you prefer. Just take the time to relax, concentrate on your breathing and become one with your thoughts and surroundings.



Try to practice yoga in the mornings, even for five minutes. It allows your body to stretch out the stiffness from the night before and gently awakens both body and mind. Gentle stretches are best but try to do a routine that encompasses the entire body.

Get Outside

Getting a little bit of open air and sunshine, even in the cold weather, can make a world of difference. Go for a walk or hike every day and enjoy drawing deep breathes of clean air into your lungs. Try to be as mindful of the experience as possible, aiming to see three things that you didn’t notice previously.

Change Your Diet

Just one small thing a week. It could be an extra portion of fruit or vegetables, or an extra glass of water. Give your body something it’s missing, minerals or vitamins etc. Incorporating one change a week also make it a lot more realistic that you’ll stick to it, rather than changing everything at once.


Compliment Someone

Make it your mission to give at least one person a thoughtful compliment every day. By thoughtful, it has to be sincere, find something you generally like about someone and let them know it. Not only will you make that person happier, you’ll also feel great that you took the time out to do it. Who knows, if you compliment a stranger, you might even make a new friend out of it!

Take A Trip By Yourself

It is good to be able to take a couple of days that you can solely spend with yourself, reconnecting and getting the complete rest you need. Going by yourself is empowering, you’ll get to do all the things that you want to do and it will push you into making conversations with people you might not have noticed if you were travelling with others.

Help Someone

Whether it’s opening a door, carrying someones bags, giving food to someone who needs it; help someone every day. Even if it’s a small thing, this can make the world of difference to someone. Being compassionate and helping someone is to the soul, what exercise is to the body; you become stronger, healthier and you’ll receive a rush of happy emotions.
