5 Easy Ways to Take Control of Your Self
Control is a funny thing. Many of us seek to control every aspect of our lives without realising this just isn’t possible. All we can realistically control are our own actions. This can be a scary realisation for many but it is only when we have accepted this that we are fully free to be happy and live our lives to the fullest.
There are things within us that we need to learn control however, to reach this state of being.
1. Look After Yourself
It seems like such a simple thing, but it’s surprising how many people neglect their body, mind and soul. You’ll be able to take on the world in a much better state if you exercise, eat well and get enough rest.
2. Being Grateful
It is much easier to face the negatives in life when we are always aware of the goodness that fills it. Try practicing saying aloud or writing down at least 5 things you are grateful for every day.
3. Don’t Make Assumptions
Most of the time you’ll look like a fool as assumptions are rarely correct. Always try to get all the information available before you make rash decisions or judgements, it says you a huge amount of hardship.
4. Squash ‘ANT’s
Dr. Daniel Amen talks about the need to squash ANT’s or Automatic Negative Thoughts in his book “Change Your Brain, Change Your Life.” It is excellent advice and by taking on the negative thoughts and challenging them as they arise, you’re taking control of your mind.
There is nothing better for the soul than helping others in need. Donate your time rather than money and get involved in projects that change others lives for the better. The more positive energy you put into the world, the more you’ll get back!
